CENTER LISLE, NY – Darren Smith stole one away from his brother, Matt Smith, on the final lap of the 40-lap Mountain Madness feature on Saturday night. Darren led the feature for about 50 feet, but it was enough to claim the $2,500 victory.

Jared Green won the DIRTcar Sportsman feature as well as the Hustle The Highway 600 Modified Series feature, with Collin Mills claiming the 20-lap 4-Cylinder nightcap.

At the start of the Dirt Track Digest TV Modified feature, Brett Tonkin got the early lead from Rich Talada. Tonkin kept the top position for the first quarter of the race.

Matt wrestled the lead away from Tonkin on lap nine before running away from the field.

By halfway, Matt led with his brother Darren moving into the second position. Darren began his chase from there.

In the final five laps, Matt encountered heavy slower traffic, allowing Darren to close in. Darren waited until the final lap, in traffic, to drive off turn four to the win, using the middle groove of the racetrack. Matt settled for second with Danny Creeden third. Tonkin held on for fourth, with Nick Nye finishing fifth.

Jared Green took command on lap four and never looked back, capturing the 30-lap DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Green, aboard the No. 607, started sixth and worked his way to the front early before going on to secure the victory. Matt Brewer charged from ninth to finish second, with Devon Green advancing from 11th to third. Luke Powell finished fourth after starting second, while polesitter Chris Clemens completed the top five. 

Jared Green led from the second starting position and went on to capture the 39-lap Sam Usborne Memorial for the Hustle The Highway 600 Modified Series. Green, aboard the No. 35, took control early and paced the field to the checkered flag for the victory. Tom Donahue charged forward from the 13th starting spot to finish second, with Charles Lohmeyer advancing from 10th to claim third. Dustin Zimmer came from 12th to finish fourth, while Justin LaDue rounded out the top five after starting ninth.

Collin Mills took the lead on lap six and went on to score the victory in the 20-lap 4-Cylinders feature. Mills started fourth and moved to the front before holding off Shawn Mills, who led the opening five laps from the pole, to take the checkered flag. Dakota Fuller finished third after starting seventh, followed by Joe Zedanovich in fourth and Marvin Jenkins in fifth. 

Thunder Mountain Speedway’s final event is the Monster Bash on the Mountain coming up on October 30 and 31. The event features races for the Dirt Track Digest TV Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman, IMCA Modifieds, 600 Modifieds, 600 Sprints, and Factory Stocks. The Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series is also in action on Saturday night October 31.
