No April Joke: Jan Corcoran Memorial to Kick Off ’25 at Thunder Mountain

CENTER LISLE, NY— It’s not a joke. Thunder Mountain Speedway is ready to make a splash to get things underway for the 2025 racing season in the Southern Tier of New York.
For the first time in its history, the Jan Corcoran Memorial presented by Dot Foods is slated to start the season off with two nights of racing on the Mountain on Friday, April 18, and Saturday, April 19.
The weekend kicks off on Friday night with timed hot laps sessions for the Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman along with full racing programs for the 600cc Modifieds and the 600 Sprints, as well as the Factory Stocks racing under home track rules.
A lot will be on the line for the Modifieds and Sportsman during their timed hot lap sessions. The drivers fastest in each division in the first timed session get the sixth starting position in Saturday night’s feature event. The second timed warm-up session for Modifieds and Sportsman is scheduled to give away the fourth starting spot to the drivers with the fastest lap.
Saturday evening the Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman take center stage with each division going 32 laps for their feature action. Both feature events will pay $3,200 to the winner. A draw redraw format will be utilized for the line-ups of the heats and the main events.
Joining the Modifieds and Sportsman on the Saturday night card is the return of the IMCA Modifieds, who’ll run on a semiweekly basis on the 3/8th mile, along with the 600cc Modifieds for a second night of action.
Currently sponsors are being sought with several contingency awards already in place from DIG Race Products, Velocita, Integra Racing Shocks, Beyea Custom Headers, Henry’s Exhaust, VP Racing Fuels, Hoosier Tire, and Fastline Performance.
Racing on Friday night is scheduled for 7 p.m. with hot laps hitting the track at 6 p.m. Pit gates open at 3 p.m. with grandstand gates opening at 4 p.m. Pits are $40, and grandstands are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, veterans, and kids ages 10 to 17. Nine and under are free.
