Monster Bash on the Mountain a Success – Over 200 cars and in excess of $40,000 in cash and contingencies paid out!
CENTER LISLE, NY – The Monster Bash on the Mountain at the Thunder Mountain Speedway was a resounding success. Over 100 cars participated on each day, and over $40,000 in cash and contingency were awarded to the competitors during the two-day event.
36 Stafursky Modifieds and 38 SpeedSport1 Sportsman were the high car counts for the respective division in the Northeast the first weekend of November. With a 7:00pm start, racing was concluded just prior to 10:00PM on Friday. Starting at 2:00 PM sharp on Saturday, November 2nd, the 40-lap Stafursky Modified feature took the green at 5:15 PM, with the Eagle Ridge Construction 40-Lap 600cc Modified feature concluding the day of exciting racing finished just prior to 7:00 PM.
In the Stafursky Paving 40 Lap Modified feature, Danny Creeden was the winner of $4,000. Winning $50 in cash from Bill Brown and Company and a $50 product certificate from ERK Steering were heat race winners Alan Fink, Eric Leet, Willy Decker, and Cody Higbie. Sean Beardsley won the Malcom Media $50 Hard Charger Award. Adam Coots won a case of oil courtesy of Precision Hydraulic and Oil as the Hard Luck Award winner. Winning the Hoosier Tire from Thunder Mountain Speedway was Joey Colsten as the first non-qualifier. Nick Nye, who finished in 13th, won the Hoosier Tire as the highest-finishing Afton Speedway regular. Thanks to the proceeds of the redemption draw, the starting money originally scheduled to be $350 was $400 for the 26 starters of the race. All non-qualifiers left with $75 in cash and a $50 DIG Product certificate.
$2,000 was awarded to Jordan Millard for claiming the 30-lap SpeedSport1 Sportsman feature. The race paid $200.00 to start. Tim Guild won the Hoosier Tire from Thunder Mountain Speedway for being the first DNQ, with the next ten non-qualifiers receiving a DIG Products $50 certificate in addition to $25. Third-place finishing Matt Brewer received a free Hoosier tire as the highest Afton Speedway regular. The four sportsman heat races paid $50 to win from Bicknell Race Products and a $50 ERK Steering product certificate. Heats were claimed by Jamie Kamrowski, Ray Leonard, Matt Brewer, and Tyler Corcoran. Dale Folejewski won a case of oil as the Precision Hydraulic and Oil Hard Luck Award winner.
For the 600cc Modifieds, Eagle Ridge Construction sponsored the heat races on Friday, with $50 wins going to Doug Windhausen, Owen Mossow, and 20-lap feature event winner Ali Scutt. On Saturday, Eagle Ridge Construction sponsored $1,500 to win a 600cc 40-lap Modified feature claimed by Tyler Talada. Talada won the Randalls Remodeling $50 Hard Charger award coming from 22nd to the win. Kyle Percy, who was unable to start the main event, received $50 from Randalls Remodeling as the Hard Luck Award. $50 Eagle Ridge Construction heat winners were Butch Green, Justin Ladue, and Scutt. Ladue won a case of oil courtesy of Precision Hydraulic and Oil.
Jerry Lobdell Jr. led wire to wire in the $1,000-win 25-lap Graydon Excavating Factory Stock Feature.
Friday night’s timed practice sessions saw the 71 Speed and Design “Just Missed” $200 going to Will Shields, earning $100 from each session for being the second fastest Stafursky Paving Modified. For the Speedsport1 Sportsman Hunter Lapp also Just Missed twice, being the next car not to make the redraw in both timed warm-up sessions. Agawam MA’s Jeff Gallup received the $100 Wild Card award from 71 Speed and Design.

This concludes the on-track racing action at the Thunder Mountain Speedway for the 2024 season. Thunder Mountain Speedway will have a display at the Northeast Racing Products Trade Show at the Exposition Center on the New York State Fairgrounds on Friday, November 22nd and 23rd.
