Williamson Invades for Wade Decker Memorial Triumph, Green Wins Randy Decker Memorial Main, and Waibel Takes Hustling the Highway Series Victory on Labor Day

CENTER LISLE, NY – Thunder Mountain Speedway honored two Southern Tier legends on Labor Day with the running of the Wade Decker and Randy Decker Memorials. Mat Williamson made the long tow from Canada worthwhile by capturing the $5,000-to-win Wade Decker Memorial for the Modifieds. Butch Green led every lap to take the win in the Randy Decker Memorial for the Factory Stocks, earning a $1,500 payday. In the $1,000 Hustling the Highway Series feature for the 600cc Modifieds, Jake Waibel came out on top.

The 50-lap Dirt Track Digest TV Modified Wade Decker Memorial feature saw Josh Landers take the early lead from outside pole sitter Garett Rushlow. Landers set a solid pace, with Zach Payne moving into second early and pressuring the young leader. The pair led the field through the first 11 laps before a caution slowed the action.

On the restart, Mat Williamson continued his forward march, taking over the second spot from Payne and quickly setting his sights on Landers. Using the middle groove, Williamson reeled in Landers and completed the pass for the lead on lap 14.

From there, it was Williamson’s race to lose as he steadily pulled away from the field. Behind him, Brandon Loucks began his own charge, moving into second on lap 19. Landers stayed close, and the two waged a spirited battle until contact with a slower car on lap 39 sent Loucks spinning.

Williamson maintained control on the final restart and drove away to claim the victory and the big check. Payne slipped past Landers to finish second, while Landers held on for third. Anthony Perrego stormed through the field from 22nd to finish fourth, with Danny Creeden advancing from 11th to round out the top five.

Butch Green led all 30 laps from the pole position to capture the feature win in the Randy Decker Memorial for the Factory Stocks, holding off a strong field in a competitive race. Jerry Lobdell Jr. made steady progress from the fifth starting spot to finish second after battling for the lead in the final stages, while Michael Dickerson charged forward from 12th to take third. Jason Rhodes impressed with a massive drive through the field, advancing 19 spots from 23rd to finish fourth. Lukas Mills also ran a solid race, crossing the line in fifth after starting 11th.

Jake Waibel went wire-to-wire in the 25-lap Hustling the Highway Series feature for the 600cc Modifieds, earning a $1,000 payday for his dominant performance. Starting from the pole, Waibel set the tone early and never relinquished the lead, even as the pressure mounted in the closing laps. Ali Scutt finished second after a solid run from the third starting spot, while Logan LaDue held steady in third. Justin LaDue and James Randall completed the top five

Thunder Mountain Speedway goes quiet for now, but the roar of engines will return at the end of October for the second annual Monster Bash on the Mountain, set for Friday and Saturday, October 31 and November 1.

Friday night kicks off with a full slate of racing featuring the Hustling the Highway Series for the 600cc Modifieds, the Billings’ Memorial for the IMCA Modifieds, the Chad Sindoni Memorial for the Factory Stocks, and the 600 Sprints. Timed warm-ups will also be held for the Open Modifieds and DIRTcar Sportsman. Racing begins at 7 p.m.

Saturday’s action gets underway at 2 p.m., headlined by a 40-lap, $4,000-to-win feature for the Open Modifieds. The DIRTcar Sportsman will also be chasing a $2,000 top prize. The 600cc Modifieds return for a second day, joined by the first-ever appearance of the Mohawk Valley Vintage Dirt Modified Series, adding a touch of nostalgia to a weekend full of racing excitement.
