Smith Beats Mother Nature to Claim Modified Win; Eastman, Mossow, Lobdell, Roberts, Bobbett, and August Also Victorious

CENTER LISLE, NY – After a nearly three-hour rain delay, Thunder Mountain Speedway’s racing action went on as scheduled, and the night’s program certainly lived up to expectations. Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, the evening saw intense racing across multiple divisions, with Darren Smith claiming his first Modified feature win of the season.
Will Eastman powered to victory in the DIRTcar Sportsman division, while Owen Mossow led the field in the 600 Modifieds. Jerry Lobdell Jr. triumphed in the Factory Stocks, Matt Roberts dominated the IMCA Modifieds, Zach Bobbett claimed victory in the 600 Sprints, and Joe August Jr. took the win in the Classics on Dirt Series.
Dirt Track Digest TV Modified Feature
Jimmy Zacharias took the early lead in the Modified feature and quickly built a strong lead. However, his progress was halted on lap 8 when the race’s first caution came out after Brian Malcolm suffered a mechanical failure and stopped in Turn 4. After the restart, Zacharias retained the lead but was soon challenged by sixth-place starter Darren Smith. On lap 10, Smith made a bold move around the outside of Zacharias in Turns 1 and 2, taking command of the race.
Smith’s brother, Matt Smith, applied steady pressure from lap 11 onward, but his run ended on lap 33 after a flat right rear tire brought out the final caution of the night. On the restart, Darren Smith held off the field and cruised to the victory. Zacharias finished second, while Brett Tonkin made an impressive charge from 13th to finish third. Ajay Potrzebowski and Eric Leet rounded out the top five.
DIRTcar Sportsman Feature
Will Eastman powered to the front on a lap 5 restart and never looked back, securing the win in the 25-lap DIRTcar Sportsman feature. Starting from the fifth position, Eastman quickly asserted control of the race and fended off a late charge from Matt Brewer, who advanced from 10th to finish second. Grant Hilfiger, Travis Green, and Cody Jackson completed the top five.
Factory Stock Feature
Jerry Lobdell Jr. took the early lead from his second-place starting position and held on to capture the Factory Stock feature win. Brian Rhodes finished second, followed by Buck Mills Jr., Shane Moshier, and Austin Baldwin, who rounded out the top five.
IMCA Modified Feature
Matt Roberts led wire-to-wire to win the 20-lap IMCA Modified feature. Though Jakub Ingham briefly took the lead early in the race, a caution negated the pass, allowing Roberts to maintain his advantage. Roberts ultimately held off Keith Lamphere, who finished second, while Ingham, Tyler Stoddard, and Jacob McConnell completed the top five.
600 Modified Feature
Owen Mossow dominated the 600 Modified feature, leading all 20 laps from his second-place starting position. Chelsie Beebe, Ali Scutt, Tyler Talada, and Justin LaDue completed the top five.
600 Sprint Feature
In the 600 Sprint feature, Zach Bobbett claimed victory in the 10-lap event, holding off his competitors for the win.
Classics on Dirt Feature
Joe August Jr. emerged victorious in the 20-lap Classics on Dirt main event, continuing his strong season.
