NY-Penn IMCA Modified Ed and Jan Billings Classic Added to Friday Evening of the Monster Bash on the Mountain

CENTER LISLE, NY – A new highlight has been added to the Monster Bash on the Mountain at Thunder Mountain Speedway, set for Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1. The NY-Penn IMCA Modifieds will compete in the Ed and Jan Billings Classic, presented by MJH Oil Field Services.
The 30-lap feature will pay $3,016 to win and $225 to start for a 24-car starting field. This event honors the memory of Ed and Jan Billings, founders of the NY-Penn IMCA Series. Since its debut in June 2021, the series has seen steady growth. In addition to founding the series, Ed Billings served as IMCA Eastern Region Director for 16 years and previously directed the now-defunct Empire State IMCA Series.
“Our goal is to bring the affordable, competitive IMCA Modified racing seen in the Midwest to this region,” said Jake Maynard, NY-Penn Series Race Director and current IMCA Eastern Region Director. “The support for the Ed and Jan Billings Classic presented by MJH Oil Field Services reflects the strength of this division and series. With a $3,016 payout to win and $225 to start, this is the richest purse ever for the NY-Penn IMCA Series — and for IMCA Modifieds in this area. I anticipate a field of over 30 cars, with competitors traveling from as far as Michigan.”
Non-qualifiers will receive $100 in tow money, and the event boasts extensive contingency support thanks to numerous sponsors. Highlights include:
- $250 to the team that tows the farthest, courtesy of DirtTrackDigest.com
Rich Powell Designs will award:
- $50 to the halfway leader
- $50 to the last car on the lead lap
- $50 to the Hard Charger
- $50 to the Hard Luck driver
Sean Weldy Truck Repair will award $100 to the fastest qualifier.
The starting lineup for the Ed and Jan Billings Classic will be set by the results of a $300-to-win, 6-lap Cash Dash featuring the top two finishers from each heat. The starting grid for the Dash will be determined by a draw.
Looking Ahead
The 2024 Monster Bash on the Mountain drew the largest car count in the Northeast that weekend, with over 200 cars in attendance and more than $40,000 paid out in cash and contingencies. Higher car counts and increased payouts are expected for the 2nd Annual Monster Bash on the Mountain in 2025.
